CREATIVE STRATEGY

IKEA and Disney unite to offer families a new way to transform children’s rooms by combining Scandinavian functionality with timeless magic. While parents want to follow their children’s ever-changing passions, they can’t redesign a whole room every time tastes evolve. At the same time, IKEA’s durable furniture isn’t always aligned with how quickly kids’ imaginations shift. The concept SWÏSH, born from “Wish” and “Switch”, solves this by proposing Disney accessory kits designed for iconic IKEA children’s pieces like the KURA bed, LÄTT table and chairs, and RINGSTA lampshade. These kits allow families to switch themes easily without replacing furniture, providing a practical, ecological, and budget-friendly way to refresh a room.

The SWÏSH visual identity blends the clean, minimalist codes of IKEA with the playful magic of Disney. Its graphic charter is built around a simple, unified palette dominated by white and blue, signature colors shared by both brands. This combination creates a fresh, accessible and instantly recognizable identity where Scandinavian simplicity naturally meets Disney imagination. The result is a harmonious, modern and family-friendly aesthetic that speaks to both parents and children.

The project comes to life in-store through a playful contest path, where families collect stamps across three full-scale immersive rooms inspired by Monsters, Inc., Frozen, and Cars. Each space showcases how the kits transform the furniture, helping parents imagine the concept at home.

A 360° campaign extends the experience beyond stores with urban posters, social media content, a Disney-styled IKEA façade, and online product highlights. The result is a solution that adapts to children’s imagination, saves money for parents, and promotes sustainability by encouraging the reuse of existing furniture.
